Heather van den Broek’s dance roots right started right here in Guelph at the Royal City School of Ballet over 20+ years ago. Her continuation of education in dance led her to graduating from Ryerson Polytechnic University with a Diploma in the dance teaching stream. After instructing with several dance schools across the GTA and working towards the idea of becoming a RAD examiner, Heather found herself being hired by competitive sports clubs, leading her into an unconventional field for dance yet equally fulfilling. Today, she has added on the title of fitness instructor under her belt, but still brings dance to children and adults everywhere, from the TDSB to fitness gyms. Heather is more than excited to not only return to Guelph but jump on board the GYD team and share the love and passion of dance to others.
Archives for July 2015
Lindsay Roe
Born in Guelph, Lindsay Roe began her training at Anna Marie Oliver School of Dance and graduated Ryerson’s Theatre Dance program in 2000. Throughout the decades, she has choreographed group works in music videos for independent artists, notably Diamond Rings ‘Wait & See’ (2009), L CON ‘Form of Space’ (2017) & VERSA ‘V’ (2019).
In September 2015, a local collective of grown ups in quest of a dance instructor, rekindled her spirit when she was asked to teach them and subsequently their kids in years to follow. Both crews made annual appearances at Short&Sweet as part of Kazoo! Fest, a music & arts festival in downtown Guelph. Summer 2017, Lindsay experienced great fun as a dance counsellor at Guelph Dance’s
Arts Explosion Camp. With a footing in jazz, she blends a bedrock of pedestrian and original gestures, weaving in movements from the bodies she works with. Ecstatic and honoured, Lindsay now returns to Guelph Youth Dance as a Hip Hop teacher.
